Information for new students
Dear students,
you will encounter the Zentrum für Informations- und Medientechnologie (i.e. the Centre for Information and Media Technology - ZIMT for short) for the first time when you activate your ZIMT account including your student e-mail address via unisono.
You will receive the access data via your personal unisono account in the section "Studentisches Leben/ZIMT-Konto".
(Registration is required!)
It is absolutely necessary to set up your student e-mail address or your ZIMT account:
All official correspondence from the university (from the Student Secretariat, lecturers, examination offices, service facilities, etc.) is sent to the student e-mail address. Please always use this e-mail address for internal university communication with your lecturers or the examination offices.
/ (You may set up a forwarding to your private address for university emails).
The ZIMT account is also a requirement for accessing other services:
- (free) WLAN access on all locations of the university
- Learning Management System Moodle
- University Cloud System sciebo
- Access via VPN, e.g. for logging in to university services from outside, e.g. to the library catalogues or possibly later for online exams
- Access to the PC pools

The ZIMT on Campus Haardter Berg
The ZIMT can be found on campus Haardter Berg at two locations:
ZIMT-H (in Hoelderlinstrasse)

The ZIMT support desk is the central entry point of contact for all kinds of questions and also supports you with the configuration of e-mail programmes, WLAN at the university, VPN clients, virus protection, etc. - Equipment rental
On request you can rent here laptops for a limited period of time. - Secretary's office
ZIMT-AR (in Adolf-Reichwein-Strasse - building X)
- Mediatheque / Lending media on video
Here you can borrow media for your studies. All stock can be viewed online. You can also view individual programs on site. - Secretary's office
- Editing stations for Video/Audio
- TV-Studio
- Seminar room for IT-training lessons (in building Z)
